Exploring Music

Educators often tell us that children who grow up surrounded by books, stories and conversations have a definite advantage when they learn to read and write.
Something similar happens when children live in a musically enriched environment.
Learning a musical instrument is a complex interaction of coordination, reasoning and concentration. Developing a feel for beat, rhythmic repetition and melodic contour during the early years, provides a strong foundation for musical training.
Nursery rhymes, songs, chants, car sing-a-long CDs, ‘pots & pans orchestras’ and dancing, are all fun ways to immerse young children in music.
Allegro’s Exploring Music class offers a structured approach to preparing 5 & 6 year olds for more formal musical training. It is not a substitute for musical experiences during the pre school years, but is designed to build on the child’s musical sense and foster readiness for music reading and instrumental work. The class is adapted to the developmental abilities of this age group. Movement, singing, games and percussion playing are used to introduce and reinforce musical concepts and keyboard skills.
Group size is limited to four.
